Scouts In Gillingham

1st Gillingham Scout Group is one of the oldest groups in Medway, offering exciting and fun opportunities to children and young people of all ages. Operating out of our own dedicated Scout Hall in King William Road, we accept boys and girls from the age of 6 years old and upwards. We run a full programme of opportunities, everything from archery and shooting to Segway’s and photography, and of course we go camping, we wouldn’t be Scouts if we didn’t camp!

Beavers in hall

We believe in bringing people together in a safe, secure, friendly environment, we stand together against intolerance and we embrace diversity. We work closely with other community organisations in Gillingham, Medway and the surrounding areas to offer opportunities to children and young people to grow within Scouting, enjoy fun and have an adventure. We are more than just a youth club, or an after school club, our exciting programme of activities helps develop character skills such as leadership, teamwork, problem solving and empathy. We also take part in practical skills like cooking, first aid and photography.

Dedicated Volunteers

Our team of dedicated volunteers who help to run our activities, give their time freely to help young people enjoy their time in Scouting. All our Scout Leaders have been interviewed and references are taken before being appointed, as well as undertaking a Criminal Record Check, otherwise known as a Police check. Courses in basic first aid and child protection are expected of all our Scout Leaders, as well as agreeing to a code of conduct and ongoing training.

If you’re looking for a safe, secure environment, that offers fun and adventure to your child or young person, Scouts in Gillingham offers all these opportunities and more. Maybe you feel you have something to offer and would like to be involved, you’d be surprised at what skills many people take for granted, which can be hugely beneficial to young people.

Whether you’re an adult asking for your child, or an adult interested in being involved, why not get in touch to find what opportunities we have to offer?
